Ethica Group
Founded in Ortona (Italy) in 1994, Farnese is one of the main Italian winery boutiques, active in the production and distribution of wines mainly from Southern and Central Italy, exporting all over the world in more than 80 countries through a solid network of importers and distributors. The business has built its success on a flexible “asset-light” business model, with no vineyards ownership, sourcing grapes thanks to solid relationships with selected local winegrowers.
Ethica Corporate Finance advised the shareholders of Farnese Group - Private Equity firm NB Renaissance (part of Neuberger Berman), the founder and CEO Valentino Sciotti and certain members of the management team - in the sale to the US investment company Platinum Equity.
The purpose of Farnese is to become one of the leading international players in a highly fragmented global industry and Platinum Equity - together with the founder Valentino Sciotti who re-invested and will continue to lead the Group - will support the further expansion of the business, through both organic growth and international acquisitions.
Ethica was able to identify a selected panel of potential financial buyers and structure a competitive sale process, which resulted in a high evaluation for the shareholders, leveraging on a solid knowledge of the asset and its reference market.
Ethica supported the shareholders and the management team of Farnese in identifying the best solution not only to fulfil sellers’ expectations, but also and moreover, by scouting for the best partner to back the Group and the management team going forward in their ambitious further growth plans.
