Inversiones en Recreación, Deporte y Salud (“Bodytech”) is a Colombian enterprise established in 1997. The company is a fitness market leader in Colombia with over 50 gyms and 120,000 registered members. Additionally, the Company has a presence in the Peruvian market with 16 gyms as well as in Chile with 48 gyms operated under the Sportlife brand (acquired in 2012).
Deal Summary
Two shareholders of Bodytech, the Latam Peru Fund and Latam Growth Fund, were looking to exit their minority stake in the company. After several negotiations, the combined equity stake of both funds was sold to a group of existing shareholders.
Value Added
EFIC Partners acted as representative of the Latam Peru Fund and as financial advisor for both investment funds. Negotiations and legal due diligence were carried out directly by EFIC, An EV/EBITDA multiple of 10x was obtained. This was a successful exit considering that the exit multiple was higher than the average for public comparable companies despite the fact that it was a minority stake.
