Career
Prior to Blair Franklin, Fred was with BMO Capital Markets, most recently as Vice Chairman and Head of Global Investment and Corporate Banking. In that role, he was responsible for all of BMO’s origination business in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia, including expansion into China. His previous roles included Deputy Head and Chief Operating Officer; Head of Global Mining and Metals; Head of Government and Privatization; and a member of the Capital Markets Group. Prior to joining BMO, Fred worked with Citicorp Investment Bank and McLeod Young Weir Limited in investment banking and international capital markets.
Fred holds a B.Comm. (Honours) degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University, an M.B.A. degree from The Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. He has also been an Executive in Residence at INSEAD in France and Singapore.

Fred joined Blair Franklin in 2007 and has more than 30 years of investment banking experience. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for numerous advisory, financing, privatization and restructuring assignments and has extensive experience in the areas of government and public sector entities, infrastructure, financial services, diversified industries and mining and metals.
Fred is also active in several Board and community organizations. He Chair of Altius Minerals Corporation (ALS:TSX); a Director and Chair of Governance and Sustainability of Toromont Industries Ltd. (TSX:TIH); a Former Director of Uni-Select Inc. (UNS:TSX); a Former Director of Aimia Inc. (AIM:TSX); and a Past President of the Canadian Club of Toronto. He is also an accredited director through the Institute of Corporate Directors.
