The company has commercially started its first operating unit in 2000 following by the second unit in 2009. In early 2017, the company has acquired two geothermal power plants in Indonesia thus the group currently has total installed capacity of 875 MW.

Khronos Advisory advised Star Energy Group on the sale of 33% equity stake in Star Energy Group Holdings Pte Ltd to BCPG Public Company Limited, a leading Thailand-based listed company focusing on renewable energy.
