Ethica Group – Ethica M&A Advisory with Newport & Co on the acquisition of ReHa from Health Care Group, leading to the creation of Aketis

Ethica Group, through its M&A Advisory team, advised Newport & Co, Italy’s first perpetual compounder and the only one in Europe exclusively focused on small-scale corporate carve-outs and non-core divestments, on the completion of its acquisition of ReHa, the Home Care Solutions business unit of Health Care Group. Following the carve-out and separation from the Group, an independent company has been established under a new brand identity: Aketis.

Headquartered in Pontedera (Pisa), Aketis is one of Italy’s leading operators specialising in the integrated management of medical and orthopaedic equipment on behalf of Local Health Authorities (ASL), providing a range of services including sanitisation, maintenance, refurbishment and home delivery. The company operates through an extensive nationwide logistics network comprising eleven operational sites, coordinated by a proprietary software platform, and employs approximately 115 people.

Established in 2014 as a business unit of Health Care Group, Aketis has achieved steady growth in recent years, establishing itself as a leading player in its sector. Following the transaction, Nicola Marzella, who has led the development of the business since its inception, will serve as Chief Executive Officer, supported by the existing management team.

Newport & Co will support the company in its next phase of growth and consolidation, guiding it through the completion of its transition to full operational independence, the strengthening of its financial planning and management control processes, and the development of future strategic initiatives. At the same time, it will ensure full continuity of services for healthcare authorities, patients, employees and suppliers.
